This venue, which was previously of little
interest to climbers due to its lack of adequate protection,
is now Shetland’s first sports crag. It offers varied
climbing on good rock, less than 5 minutes from the road.
The crag is sheltered and the first 3 routes are non-tidal,
but the others require a low tide and a calm sea. The
imposing overhanging wall has yet to be conquered but
promises to have some excellent hard lines.
Access: Past the café in Eshaness, take the Leascole
turning and follow to the end. Park off the road at Ure
croft and walk through North over the hill following the
fence (200m). You can’t miss the crag! |
